Vauxhall school Mural Art Project
A collaboration between artists and students to inject energy, nature & colour to the heart of the school.Abstract geometric patterns designed to represent the growth & progression of youth development provide the base and add colour to the walls. These geometric shapes also help highlight other important elements like the school colours and a subtle reference to the āVā for Vauxhall.
Theme
The nature elements come in the form of the class names used in the school. Tui, Piwakawaka, Kauri, Totara, Kowhai & Miro. All of these elements have been represented visually. Additionally other areas of natural progression too, including the caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly journey which is a beautiful metaphor for growth, which was an idea that came directly from a students input.
Result
The result is a journey through childhood that covers an entire block of the school. Hopefully a shining beacon to visitors and passersby alike.
