Adshel New Zealand wanted to demonstrate the creative possibilities of their ‘out of home’ media product with unique street feel and commissioned members of the Cut Collective, Component and iThink to design and produce the‘Beacon of Hope’ artwork.The concept for our artwork is ‘Beacon of Hope’.We love the idea of using the image of a childs face, the next generation, to represent the hope of a brighter future.Hopefully a future that is cleaner, healthier and fully renewable.We have contrasted this organic, figurative element with theapplication of interlocking geometric shapes. These abstract shapes are to add structure and help to create a striking composition.

By using a highly contrasting colour scheme that is representative of different aspects of the ‘Beacon of hope’ concept we have turned the entire lightbox itself into a beacon.The process in which to execute a multi-layered stencil ona piece of transparent glass is quite a challenge. We have painted this artwork in reverse, locking in each layer of spray paint with the following layer

Painted this in Spring weather... Windy for stencils !!  a big wall with an interesting brief working into the area's wildlife with flowers and birds & beach vibe.

To make a back wall area brighter. popping colours to make it more inviting space to be.  With a gangstas theme  a play on the shop's concept name Good company. 

A workspace in Christchurch bringing nature and colour to brighten up the new work place.

Really enjoyed making this artwork for a room in a personal house. As a sk8er in the 80's and 90's this was an fun peice of work to make.

Being a big fan of star wars this was super fun to make and paint for a bar area in outside garden area. Of course with a bit of a twist..

This was a personal commission for a family that has traveled all over the world and grown up in different parts of the world. 

Now is settled in Ak NZ 

The art work represents the family and the environment they live in.

Painted in a stair case area - Auckland - JAN 2017 NZ 

Time : being is about people, place and time. How this ‘place’ exists within the current cultural climate and the cultural climate of the past. What is this place’s culture? Who are the ‘people’ of this place? How can we represent the people, cultures & history of this place; Ponsonby / Grey Lynn.

This painting is a true colaboration, the realization of a concept months in the making. Three people have been involved in the project, primarily Component & ithink plus the photographic vision of Rakai Karaitiana.

This work is strongly in influenced by the amazing velvet paintings of Edgar leeteg but mainly the New Zealand painter Charles McPhee, who’s paintings have become cultural icons. e paci c feeling represented within these works married pefectly with our vision to represent the cultural heritage of ponsonby & Grey Lynn.

One of these classic paintings,

‘La belle de Tahiti’ had also been used on the cover of NZ hip hop album ‘Break it to Pieces’ by Samoan rapper a feelstyle, produced by Submariner.

We loved this deeper level of cultural meaning and decided to re-interpreted this artwork.

We approached Rakai Karaitiana to see if he would re shoot this iconic image for us.

He agreed and we decided his daughter Haromi Karaitiana - with her parents both having grown up in the Grey Lynn / Ponsonby community and her Samoan / Maori / European heritage - was the perfect muse.

We love the idea of using a striking 5 meter high woman as the gure to embody all
of the themes within the work plus add
a element of empowerment.

Plus the use of a multicultural part Maori, part Polynesian, part European subject is crucial to representing the diverse cultural melting pot that is modern day Grey Lynn, Auckland & New Zealand.

Having all grown up in this place it was, from the outset, our intention to enrich this site, this place and hopefully provide visual enjoyment and even inspiration for years to come.

The life of art work is always interesting i first painted the wall in a car park in 2008 of an work with a buffer council worker 'saying keep the walls grey and the mind will follow' Then years later i re painted the wall with an art work called life's a lottery at 4 meters high and 7 meters wide was a big art work. The progression of the building market meant that an apartment block was put in the place of the car park. The wall is no longer . But one of the tenants liked the wall that once was and made contact so we worked on a new work for the lobby area of the apartment  here is the result. Full circle of fishing for ....

I was looking for a way to express my feeling on the refugee crisis and this was one way i can help with art work so teamed up with https://www.amnesty.org.nz and we painted this image from photographer Ali Alsheikh Khedr/Amnesty International.
